About me:
I lived in Washington DC for four years, travelling extensivly, eating everywhere. After returning to my home country Germany in 2003, I found that my time in the States had not only left me with a new husband, but also a new appreciation for all kinds of food (believe me, okra is quite unknown in large parts of Europe). I had started to cook for guests before I came to the U.S., I had won my huband's heart (okay, his stomach) with a dish of oven-barbecued shrimps - now, in Germany, I began to cook on an everyday basis. And I'm enjoying it more everyday.

Frosted Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed on Nov. 9, 2008 by WashingtonChef
Well, I have to agree with the majority here - the frosting is spectacular! The cookies turned out okay, but not really flavourful enough for me (and I did increase the spiciness by adding more cinnamon plus nutmeg, vanilla, allspice and a bit of ginger).

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed on Apr. 29, 2008 by mirijok
These are very tasty! I prepared the triple amount of the dry ingredients, mixed them together, including the chocolate chips and stored the mix in an airtight box as a homemade pancake mix. So I just had to combine 1 cup of the mix, 1 egg, 2 tbsp. oil and 3/4 cup milk, which made enough pancakes for me and my boyfriend for breakfast. We ate them with normal maple syrup and they were excellent! Maybe I would prepare the mix as a gift as well.

Marvelous Mocha Mix

Reviewed on Apr. 28, 2008 by mirijok
This looks very beautifully marbled in a glass jar. We added half a cup brown sugar, 1 tsp real vanilla sugar and about half a teaspoon cinnamon to let it taste more unusual, compared to normal mocha. It's good made with hot water, but very creamy, tasty and rich made with hot milk.
