I used challah bread, almost a whole loaf of bread with out running out of egg mixture. I forgot to whisk after each dip, still came out good but next time will try to remember.

This will be replacing my regular French Toast recipe. I wouldn't say fluffy either, but it does have the perfect texture, just like a restaurants, wouldn't change a thing. Definitely whisk batter between dipping bread slices, like the other reviewers recommend. Thanks for the recipe! Update: Here's a tip: add the cinnamon in with the flour in the first step rather than adding later...I did this and the cinammon mixed WAY better into the liquid mixture.

Yum! This turned out great. Not soggy at all. My husband said it tasted like IHOP. I added a shot of hazelnut coffee creamer instead of vanilla and sugar to the milk and drizzled cream cheese icing. Divine! Next time I think I'll try it with cinnamon raisin bread.

This was the first time I made french toast and it was a hit! My husband's lactose intolerant..so I used soymilk and I used whole wheat flour because that's what I had and it still turned out very delicious! thanks for sharing!

It was a good recipe. I accidently forgot to add vanilla and it still turned out good.

This is a fantastic recipe! I have never had much luck making French toast before. All the ones I made turned out just okay, but the ones I made using this recipe were fluffy and tasty. They smelled lovely too. I followed the recipe exactly, but I did reduce the vanilla because I know that I often find the extract too strong for my personal preference. I used the bread from Chinese style bakery, which is slightly more moist and moist. It's a bit like egg bread. I do have one little tip to share - Cinnamon floats, so the first two slices tend to suck up all the cinnamon. After the first few slices, add an extra pinch of cinnamon and stir up the mixture to ensure that the remaining slices are just as cinnamony.

This is a very good and easy french toast recipe! I used buttermilk because that was all I had and i didn't have any problems with the flour sinking to the bottom. Next time i will put less vanilla extract and more cinnamon. UPDATE: I made stuffed french toast with this recipe and it was GREAT--I sandwiched sliced bananas and strawberries between two slices of bread (trim crusts, press edges together) and then dipped into the batter as usual. My family is still talking about it.

I have several favourite French Toast recipes, and this one will now join the ranks. I halved the recipe to make it for three people, and used sliced 'Bread Machine Challah I' (from this site) which has an awesome texture, instead of white bread. After reading some of the reviews, I made some adjustments (based on another recipe I have) - I substituted dark brown sugar for the white, freshly grated nutmeg for the cinnamon and almond extract for the vanilla. I served the French Toast with a raspberry sauce, left over from the 'Brie Pecan Rollups with Raspberry Sauce' (again from this site) that I made for dinner last night. It was a real hit!

I measured out the dry ingredients so I could fix it while camping. I like the addition of flour, and everyone else seemed to, too. It seems like it fluffs it up a bit more and lends itself more to crisping on the outside. We used the thick bread specifically made for French Toast so I didn't get quite 24 pieces after doubling, but no one went hungry. I will definitely hold onto this recipe!
